An Apology and a Confession

Since I began this ministry in March of 2025, I have posted a short devotion and at least one longer article every week. This week, however, I must apologize that I am not posting an article because, ever since Wednesday night, I have been too sick to sit at my computer long enough to write one.

When I started writing, I originally had the idea to stockpile several articles, just in case a situation like this arose. However, the Holy Spirit has never given me any articles that far in advance. Rather, every week I have had to wait for inspiration, and until this week I have never been disappointed. It has served as a continual reminder that I can’t do this on my own.

The importance of this was driven home to me just a few weeks ago. On Sunday, March 22nd, 2026, I sent out a devotion titled, “Attacking the Temple” But that devotion was actually supposed to go out a week earlier, on March 15th. I did not send it when I should have because it deals with a controversial subject, and I was afraid of how it would be received. Instead, I quickly wrote and sent out a different devotion for the 15th. But after that went out, I could not stop thinking about the fact that I had disobeyed. In my prayer times that week, the Holy Spirit was very clearly telling me to send the correct devotion. Now the right thing to do once you’re aware that you have not done what you were told is not necessarily to go back and do it (see Numbers 14:36-45 for an example.) In this case, however, it was clear that the time for sending out this devotion had not passed, so it went out on the 22nd.

I didn’t lose a single subscriber over that devotion, but when I look back in hindsight, it wouldn’t have mattered if I had. My goal has never been to have a large following, but to have a ministry that God uses for his purposes. Even when I sometimes forget, and let my fear of controversy stop me from doing what I know is the right thing.

Anyway, that’s why I have written very little this week. Hopefully, I will feel better soon, and can return to my normal schedule.
